Job summary

dsm-firmenich is seeking a Sr. Health Safety Environment Manager in Somerset, NJ. You will lead HSE across operations, elevate safety performance, and ensure compliance with ISO standards and regulatory requirements.

You will manage audits, drive improvement plans, and collaborate with site leadership to protect people and the environment while supporting ongoing regulatory relations.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Engineering and practical experience with OSHA regulations and regulatory agencies.
• Experience in chemical manufacturing environment with emphasis on process safety.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Familiarity with root-cause and risk assessment methodologies.
• Ability to lead safety initiatives and drive continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Provide HSE leadership and guidance across operations; drive, maintain, and improve HSE processes and campaigns.
• Ensure HSE management system alignment with DSM standards, ISO standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Understand site operations deeply; identify risks and implement risk-based audits and action plans.
• Co-own the site HSE continuous improvement plan with stakeholders; analyze data and provide recommendations.
• Investigate injuries, illnesses, and incidents and drive corrective actions within the HSE framework.
• Liaise with NJDEP, CAL/OSHA, and regulatory agencies as needed; support compliance and risk management.
• Lead internal audits and maintain ISO 14001/45001 standards; support client and regulator audits.
