Job summary

LANXESS is seeking an HSSE-focused professional to lead and support PSM compliance at the Ford s site in New Jersey. The role emphasizes training, incident investigations, audits, and emergency planning in a 24/7 operation environment.

You will collaborate with Plant Management and Environmental Manager to interface with regulators, maintain licenses, and drive continuous HSSE improvements, including RC 14001/ISO 9001 standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, and/or Safety Management.
• Ability to build successful relationships with regulators and management.
• 5–10 years HSSE experience in chemical industry is required.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 and RC 14001 preferred.
• Familiarity with NJ safety laws and regulations desirable.
• Ability to implement HSSE programs and drive corporate initiatives.
• Experienced auditor capable of leading resources and responsibilities.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office

Responsibilities

• Lead PSM compliance elements in Training, Contractor Safety, Critical Work Permits, Employee Participation, and Emergency Planning in a 24/7 plant.
• Support PSM elements for PHA, MOC, Incident Investigation, Audits, and Pre-startup Safety Review.
• Analyze results to trend data and identify improvement opportunities.
• Own incident trend analysis and share learnings for the facility.
• Influence operations and maintenance leadership to improve HSSE performance.
• Interface with regulators for visits, requests, and submissions with support from Area Managers.
• Lead internal/external audits and support site leadership.
• Monitor changes to HSSE regulations and update management systems accordingly.
• Lead and contribute to incident investigations and share learnings.
• Support Plant Manager in regulatory compliance including emission/waste reporting and permits (DPCC, SPCC, SPPP, Title V, MCUA).
• Design and maintain Emergency Response Program and Plan with line management.
• Ensure secure work environment and oversee site security per LANXESS requirements.
• Manage HSSE documentation, data collection, training records, KPI reports, and pursue Responsible Care certification.
