Job summary

The Michaels Companies in Irving, TX is seeking a Manager - HRIS Programs to lead and optimize our Workday ecosystem. You will own day-to-day HRIS operations, mentor the technical team, and partner with HR, IT, and Payroll to scale processes and maintain SOX controls.

This role covers Core HCM, Recruiting, Talent & Performance, security, reporting, and release management, with a focus on delivering complex reports and dashboards while aligning configuration with business strategy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• Workday Core HCM experience is strictly required.
• Hands-on proficiency configuring and managing multiple Workday modules (Recruiting, Talent & Performance, Security, Advanced Reporting).
• Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, data cleaning).
• Ability to design and build complex reports, calculated fields, and dashboards in Workday.
• 8+ years of HRIS analysis experience; 4+ years Workday experience including processes, integrations, and HCM transactions.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to map business requirements to technical solutions.
• Leadership or senior role within an HRIS team.
• Ability to communicate with both technical and business audiences.
• Experience in fast-paced, high-volume environments with deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Serve as SME and primary operational owner for Workday modules (Core HCM, Recruiting, Talent & Performance, Security, Reporting, Release Management).
• Oversee Workday releases, test updates, and ensure Change Control and SOX compliance.
• Manage and mentor team members, delegating configuration and operations tasks.
• Act as technical contact for complex system issues, security troubleshooting, and data errors.
• Design, develop, and deliver complex custom reports, calculated fields, scorecards, and dashboards.
• Ensure HRIS activities comply with policies, controls, and regulations via reporting and auditing.
• Identify data gaps and champion continuous process improvements.
• Partner with HR, IT, and Payroll to optimize work processes and service delivery.
• Lead user acceptance testing (UAT) and maintain thorough configuration documentation.
