Job summary

Coho Consulting Group seeks a Human Resources Classification Specialist to support WHS HRD, providing staff-level advice on position management, classification, and desk audits. The role involves advising managers, reviewing positions, and applying classification standards across complex organizations with diverse, high-grade roles.

The position is hybrid at the Mark Center in Alexandria, VA, reporting to the Project Manager.

Qualifications

• At least five years of government classification experience is required.
• Knowledge of HR classification principles, laws, policies, and procedures is required.
• Experience with DCPDS, USA Staffing, Defense Ready, and other federal HR products is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides authoritative advice and position classification/position management services to WHS serviced Components.
• Provides technical advice to managers exercising their delegated classification authority.
• Provides position management and classification support to assigned organizations under various personnel systems.
• Applies understanding of classification principles to interpret standards and secure sound classification on positions.
• Advises managers on the position classification process and tools.
• Determines correct classifications, crediting, and grade levels; communicates distinctions with justification.
• Prepares and reviews positions and job descriptions; writes evaluation reports as required.
• Handles data in DCPDS and related HR systems; builds and validates positions; maintains tracking of actions.
