Job summary

Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife seeks a Classification & Compensation Supervisor to act as the agency’s subject matter expert. The role collaborates with supervisors and appointing authorities to ensure descriptions meet state regulations and training needs, applying independent judgment to complex classification and compensation challenges.

Qualifications

  • Four years of broad-based professional HR experience including consulting with management in Classification & Compensation, Employee Relations, rules interpretation, and performance management.
  • Option 2: Bachelor's degree plus two years of HR consulting experience in the listed areas.
  • Option 3: Two years of experience as HR Consultant 3 with required competencies.

Responsibilities

  • Guide supervisors on creating/changing position descriptions in line with laws, WAC, CBAs, and agency policies.
  • Review reallocations, prepare determinations, and assist during reorganizations with program directors.
  • Respond to Directors Review and PIR appeals with SME support.
  • Evaluate overtime eligibility for positions per FLSA criteria.
  • Prepare new or revised WMS positions for Evaluation Committee review.
  • Supervise and mentor a professional HR staff member.
