Job summary

University of Massachusetts Amherst is seeking an experienced Executive HR Business Partner to lead a team of HR Business Partners supporting colleges and administrative units across the university. The position reports to the Senior Director for HR Embedded Services and drives high-impact HR services in a complex, unionized environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field required.
• Minimum 10 years HR experience in complex environments.
• 5+ years of people leadership experience.
• Executive-level HR leadership and risk advisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic HR leadership to deans, department heads, and leaders, aligning workforce strategy with institutional priorities.
• Lead and develop a team of 4–6+ HR Business Partners delivering consistent, high‑impact HR services.
• Collaborate with COEs to deliver integrated HR solutions across compensation, talent, engagement, labor relations, and rewards.
• Guide organizational design, change management, and workforce planning initiatives.
• Manage employee and labor relations, including policy interpretation and escalation of high‑risk issues.
• Partner with Labor Relations COE to align ER/LR actions with collective bargaining agreements.
