Job summary

Island Hospitality is seeking a Chief Engineer for our hotel who enjoys resolving problems, working with their hands, and performing physical maintenance across electrical, plumbing and building systems.

You will supervise maintenance staff, schedule preventive maintenance, coordinate with inspectors and vendors, manage department budgets, solicit bids, and ensure compliance with codes while maintaining guest comfort and brand standards.

Qualifications

• Troubleshooting and repairing malfunctions in electrical/mechanical/plumbing systems and other hotel equipment.
• Conducting ongoing room preventative maintenance.
• Resolving maintenance problems, complaints, and work orders to prioritize and schedule work.
• Carpentry and painting skills, drywall and carpet repair are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Inspecting property to identify potential and current needs.
• Ensuring department expenditures meet budget requirements.
• Soliciting bids from contractors and evaluating proposals with hotel management.
• Coordinating with health, safety, and building inspectors for compliance.
• Maintain guest satisfaction scores at brand standard or higher.
