Job summary

Highgate Hotels in downtown Miami is seeking a Chief Engineer to lead the day-to-day operations of the engineering division. The role reports to the Director and oversees planning, safety and asset maintenance.

You will manage budgets, supervise engineering staff, ensure ADA compliance, coordinate with vendors, and participate in energy-saving initiatives while upholding Highgate standards.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of progressive facilities management experience in a hotel or related field.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Stationary Engineer’s license if required by local code.
• HVAC, electrical, plumbing, boiler operations and general maintenance skills required.
• Long hours sometimes required.
• Must communicate effectively with staff and guests.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and implementing plans to maintain property, equipment, grounds and other assets in a safe and acceptable state of repair.
• Ensure the hotel is in compliance with all local, state and federal laws.
• Supervise and train Engineering staff in Customer Service, Empowerment, SOPs and Loss Prevention.
• Create and post Engineering staff schedules.
• Create and adhere to annual department budget.
• Assist in developing financial forecasts and participate in monthly profit/loss meetings.
• Create and implement preventative maintenance program for all hotel equipment.
• Ensure safety equipment and systems are inspected and certified per Highgate standards.
• Participate in energy conservation programs.
• Review guest and meeting planner feedback and address issues.
