Job summary

Highgate Hotels' E11EVEN Club Hotel & Residences in Miami is seeking an Assistant Director of Engineering to assist the Director of Engineering in overseeing daily operations, ensuring guest comfort, safety and satisfaction, and maintaining equipment, buildings, and the property.

You will supervise the engineering staff, coordinate preventive maintenance, manage vendor relations, and participate in budgeting.

Qualifications

• 4–5 years of engineering or maintenance experience in a hotel or large commercial property.
• At least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Good judgment and interpersonal abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Director of Engineering in maintaining the property, including guest rooms and equipment, through preventive maintenance.
• Oversee refrigeration, HVAC, laundry, pools, kitchen equipment, generators, plumbing, water treatment, and electrical systems.
• Interface with staff to receive maintenance needs and respond to work orders and guest requests.
• Coordinate with contractors and vendors on repairs and capital projects, and monitor work quality.
• Monitor inventory levels and prepare purchase orders for approval.
• Ensure safety inspections are completed and compliance with policies and regulations.
• Support OSHA/ADA guidelines and building codes knowledge.
• Supervise and train engineering staff and manage daily workflow.
• Assist in budget development and expense management for the department.
• Monitor energy usage and support conservation initiatives.
• Prepare maintenance and incident reports.
