Job summary

Marcus Hotels & Resorts in Milwaukee seeks a Senior Staff Accountant to join our Central Accounting team. You will prepare monthly financial statements for multiple operating entities and departments within the portfolio, ensuring accurate reporting and support of financial objectives.

In this role you will reconcile balance-sheet accounts, perform variance analysis, assist with budgeting, and coordinate with hotel controllers and executives.

Qualifications

• 2-3+ years of accounting/finance experience.
• Working knowledge of GAAP and accrual accounting.
• Knowledge of enterprise-level accounting software systems is a plus (PeopleSoft).
• Work independently and in a team to solve complex problems.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Be well-organized to manage multiple tasks.
• Detail-oriented and eager to learn new skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide accounting, financial and analytical support to multiple hotel operations and corporate departments.
• Reconcile balance-sheet accounts and resolve variances in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with executives, hotel controllers and staff to monitor and record expenses.
• Perform variance analysis for forecasting and budgeting results.
• Assist the Division Controller in preparing and presenting the annual budget.
• Prepare and monitor AR billings to third-party management properties.
• Assist in ad-hoc projects as directed by the Director of Accounting.
