Job summary

Marcus Hotels & Resorts is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to join our Central Accounting team in Milwaukee. You will prepare monthly financial statements for multiple operating entities and departments, ensuring accurate reporting for the portfolio.

You will reconcile balance sheets, perform variance analyses, support the budget process, and collaborate with executives, controllers, and staff to monitor expenses. The role combines analytical rigor with a hospitality focus.

Qualifications

• 2–3+ years of accounting/finance experience.
• Working knowledge of GAAP and accrual accounting.
• Familiarity with PeopleSoft is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide accounting and analytical support to multiple hotel operations and corporate departments.
• Reconcile balance-sheet accounts for various entities and resolve variances promptly.
• Collaborate with executives, controllers, and staff to ensure expenses are monitored and recorded correctly.
• Perform variance analyses to forecasted and budgeted results.
• Assist the Division Controller with annual budget preparation and presentation.
• Prepare and monitor AR billings for third-party management properties in the portfolio.
• Contribute to ad-hoc projects as directed by the Director of Accounting.

Job description

We are seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to join our Central Accounting team. As a key member of the Central Accounting Office, this role will collaborate closely with finance team members and be responsible for preparing monthly financial statements for multiple operating entities and departments within the Marcus Hotels & Resorts portfolio. This role will play an important role in ensuring accurate financial reporting and supporting the organization's financial objectives.

What you will be doing:

• Provide accounting, financial and analytical support to multiple hotel operations, while also supporting administrative departments at the corporate office.
• Reconcile balance-sheet accounts for various corporate entities and identify/resolve variances in a timely manner.
• Work closely with executives, hotel controllers, and accounting staff to ensure departmental expenses are being monitored and recorded appropriately.
• Perform variance analysis to forecasted and budgeted results.
• Assist the Division Controller in preparation and presentation of the annual budget.
• Prepare and monitor AR billings to third-party management properties included within the division's portfolio.
• Assist in ad-hoc projects at the direction of the Director of Accounting.

Who we are looking for:

• 2-3+ years of accounting and/or finance experience
• Working knowledge of GAAP and accrual accounting
• Knowledge of enterprise-level accounting software systems is a plus (PeopleSoft)
• Work both independently and in a team environment to solve complex problems
• Possess strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
• Be well-organized in order to successfully manage and prioritize multiple tasks
• Detail-orientated
• Willing and motivated to learn new skills, tasks and software systems to meet the changing demands of the hospitality industry
