Job summary

• 2-3+ years of accounting/finance experience.
• Working knowledge of GAAP and accrual accounting.
• Knowledge of enterprise-level accounting software (PeopleSoft).
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Well-organized to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
• Detail-oriented and accurate.

Responsibilities

• Provide accounting, financial and analytical support to multiple hotel operations and corporate offices.
• Reconciling balance-sheet accounts for various entities and resolving variances.
• Collaborate with executives, hotel controllers and staff to monitor and record expenses.
• Perform variance analysis to forecasted and budgeted results.
• Assist the Division Controller in preparing and presenting the annual budget.
• Prepare and monitor AR billings for properties within the division.
• Assist in ad-hoc projects at the Director of Accounting's direction.

Description

We are seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to join our Central Accounting team. As a key member of the Central Accounting Office, this role will collaborate closely with finance team members and be responsible for preparing monthly financial statements for multiple operating entities and departments within the Marcus Hotels & Resorts portfolio. This role will play an important role in ensuring accurate financial reporting and supporting the organization's financial objectives.

What you will be doing:

• Provide accounting, financial and analytical support to multiple hotel operations, while also supporting administrative departments at the corporate office.
• Reconcile balance-sheet accounts for various corporate entities and identify/resolve variances in a timely manner.
• Work closely with executives, hotel controllers, and accounting staff to ensure departmental expenses are being monitored and recorded appropriately.
• Perform variance analysis to forecasted and budgeted results.
• Assist the Division Controller in preparation and presentation of the annual budget.
• Prepare and monitor AR billings to third-party management properties included within the division’s portfolio.
• Assist in ad-hoc projects at the direction of the Director of Accounting.

Who we are looking for:

• 2-3+ years of accounting and/or finance experience
• Working knowledge of GAAP and accrual accounting
• Knowledge of enterprise-level accounting software systems is a plus (PeopleSoft)
• Work both independently and in a team environment to solve complex problems
• Possess strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
• Be well-organized in order to successfully manage and prioritize multiple tasks
• Detail-orientated
• Willing and motivated to learn new skills, tasks and software systems to meet the changing demands of the hospitality industry
