Job summary

Marcus Hotels & Resorts in Milwaukee seeks a Senior Staff Accountant to join our Central Accounting team. You will prepare monthly financial statements for multiple operating entities and departments within the portfolio, ensuring accurate reporting and support of financial objectives.

In this role you will reconcile balance-sheet accounts, perform variance analysis, assist with budgeting, and coordinate with hotel controllers and executives.

Qualifications

• 2-3+ years of accounting/finance experience.
• Working knowledge of GAAP and accrual accounting.
• Knowledge of enterprise-level accounting software systems is a plus (PeopleSoft).
• Work independently and in a team to solve complex problems.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Be well-organized to manage multiple tasks.
• Detail-oriented and eager to learn new skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide accounting, financial and analytical support to multiple hotel operations and corporate departments.

Job description

We are seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to join our Central Accounting team. As a key member of the Central Accounting Office, this role will collaborate closely with finance team members and be responsible for preparing monthly financial statements for multiple operating entities and departments within the Marcus Hotels & Resorts portfolio. This role will play an important role in ensuring accurate financial reporting and supporting the organization’s financial objectives.

What you will be doing:

• Provide accounting, financial and analytical support to multiple hotel operations, while also supporting administrative departments at the corporate office.
• Reconcile balance-sheet accounts for various corporate entities and identify/resolve variances in a timely manner.
• Work closely with executives, hotel controllers, and accounting staff to ensure departmental expenses are being monitored and recorded appropriately.
• Perform variance analysis to forecasted and budgeted results.
• Assist the Division Controller in preparation and presentation of the annual budget.
• Prepare and monitor AR billings to third-party management properties included within the division’s portfolio.
• Assist in ad-hoc projects at the direction of the Director of Accounting.

Who we are looking for:

Salary Estimate: $85,000-95,000/year
