Job summary

The Nebraska Department of Transportation in Grand Island is seeking a Highway Maintenance Worker/Senior to operate highway equipment and join the striping crew. The role requires a valid CDL and a willingness to respond to snow removal, emergencies, and adverse weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Experience operating heavy maintenance equipment preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old with a valid driver’s license.
• Possession of Class A or B CDL with air brakes and tanker endorsements within 60 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Operate trucks, rollers, loaders, graders, snowplows and other maintenance equipment.
• Paint, patch and repair roadways and structures as needed.
• Patch roads, repair signs, and maintain grounds and buildings in maintenance yards.
• Respond to snow removal, emergencies, and adverse weather; may work nights/weekends.
