Job summary

State of Nebraska, through the Nebraska Department of Transportation, seeks a Highway Maintenance Worker/Senior in Gretna. The role involves operating trucks and tractors, maintaining roadsides, and performing building upkeep while ensuring safety and efficiency on public highways.

You will handle routine patching, snow removal, traffic control, and equipment maintenance. A CDL with tanker endorsement and related certifications are preferred; on-call duties and weather-related work are expected.

Qualifications

• Experience operating heavy equipment or farming background.
• CDL Class A with tanker endorsement required within 60 or 90 days depending on role.
• Commercial pesticide applicator license preferred.
• Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate trucks and light equipment to complete highway maintenance work.
• Operate tractors with attachments to maintain highways and right of way.
• Maintain shrubs, trees, lawns and perform building maintenance and cleaning.
• Paint buildings and structures; perform patching and sealing of highways.
• Provide traffic control safely during construction and maintenance.
• Perform snow removal and respond to emergencies as needed.
