Job summary

The State of Nebraska, Transportation - Agency 27, seeks a Highway Maintenance Worker/Senior in Geneva, NE. The role offers hourly pay with differential CDL incentives and requires a valid driver's license and CDL within probation.

On-call duties and winter operations are part of the job, with a strong emphasis on safety and teamwork. You will operate a range of heavy equipment, perform preventative maintenance, and participate in snow removal and emergency responses as needed.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years old with valid driver's license.
• CDL Class A or B with air brakes and tanker endorsements required within 60 days of employment.
• Preferred: experience operating heavy equipment; Class A CDL with tanker endorsement; pesticide license; basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate highway maintenance equipment such as trucks, rollers, front-end loaders, tractors, motor graders, snowplows, draglines, backhoes, and distributors.
• Operate specialized equipment for lay-down machines, rock cutters, snoopers, pavement stripers, drilling or milling machinery, gas transports, semi-trailer tucks, and chip spreaders.
• Identify maintenance needs for equipment and participate in servicing and repairs; maintain grounds and buildings at maintenance yards.
• Patch roadways and other pavements; repair signs; erect snow fences; repair bridges and culverts.
