Job summary

The State of New Hampshire, Department of Transportation, Bureau of Highway Maintenance - District 5, seeks a Highway Maintainer III at 6 East Point Drive, Bedford, NH. This full-time role features a CDL-A and year-round operation and servicing of highway equipment.

The position includes supervising entry-level crews, performing maintenance, and ensuring safety near traffic. Lifting up to 50 lbs and responding to winter conditions are required.

Qualifications

• CDL-A license required with no air brake restrictions.
• Must pass MVR check per NH DoT standards.
• Pre-employment drug screen per DOT requirements.

Responsibilities

• Operates and troubleshoots complex highway maintenance equipment.
• Maintains assigned equipment and performs preventive repairs.
• Responds to winter conditions, plowing and de-icing as needed.
• Supervises entry-level workers and small crews to ensure safety and efficiency.
• Performs routine maintenance and repairs under adverse conditions with traffic exposure.
• Must be physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs regularly.
• Responds 24/7 during winter maintenance and other emergencies.
