Job summary

Calvert County Government seeks an experienced laborer to operate heavy road maintenance equipment and support highway construction projects in Maryland. The role requires operating a range of heavy machinery, performing safety-focused checks, and ensuring compliance with specifications.

Four years of road construction or highway maintenance experience and a valid Class A CDL with Medical Examiner's Certificate are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Four years of progressively responsible road construction or highway maintenance experience.
• Valid Class A restricted commercial driver's license and a current Medical Examiner's Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Operate specialized road maintenance and construction equipment to perform routine and finish operations.
• Perform daily equipment checks and ensure safety before use.
• Place and oversee signs and ensure public safety around work sites.
• Transport crew to job sites and perform manual tasks when not operating equipment.
• Perform emergency snow removal and weather-related cleanup.
• Perform related duties as required.
