Job summary

CHA Consulting, Inc. seeks a Senior Highway Engineer to join our Highway & Rail Team across multiple MA/RI offices. You will provide technical leadership for complex highway and rail projects, mentor engineers, and deliver high-quality transportation solutions.

The role focuses on design execution, client interaction, and cross-discipline collaboration. A PE license, 10+ years of experience, and proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MicroStation are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is required.
• Minimum of 10 years progressive engineering experience required.
• Highway/roadway design experience is required; hydraulic design experience preferred.
• MassDOT design experience required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Expert knowledge of the engineering discipline with ability to apply best practices.
• Advanced proficiency with engineering, computational, and modeling software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation).
• Strong QA/QC knowledge, business practices, and engineering laws.
• Demonstrated leadership and ability to work in a collaborative environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Membership in professional engineering societies/organizations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical execution of complex highway and rail design projects, reports, and specs.
• Provide expert consultation to resolve highly complex issues across multidiscipline transportation projects.
• Lead advanced technical projects and coordinate with other departments and project management staff.
• Develop and manage discipline work plans aligned with milestones, budgets, and schedules.
• Guide and mentor junior engineers, including technical reviews and support.
• Prepare proposals and deliver external presentations to clients, the public, and regulatory agencies.
