Job summary

CHA Consulting, Inc. in Rocky Hill, CT is seeking a Senior Highway Engineer to lead the technical direction on highway and rail projects, guiding multidisciplinary teams and delivering innovative roadway solutions that enhance safety and mobility.

You will mentor junior engineers, develop discipline work plans, and ensure projects stay on budget and schedule while upholding QA/QC and engineering standards. A PE license, 10+ years of experience, and CTDOT experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering required; Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive engineering experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• CTDOT experience required.
• Project and client management experience highly desired.
• Expert knowledge of the respective engineering discipline with a proven ability to apply best practices.
• Advanced proficiency with engineering, computational, and modeling software (MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer (ORD) as well as Microsoft Office).
• Strong understanding of QA/QC procedures, business practices, and engineering laws.
• Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Participation in professional engineering societies/organizations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical execution of complex highway and rail designs, reports, and specifications.
• Provide expert consultation and resolve highly complex technical issues.
• Lead advanced projects, collaborating with other engineering departments and project management staff to deliver sustainable solutions.
• Develop and manage discipline work plans aligned with project milestones, ensuring projects are completed within budget and scheduling restraints.
• Guide and mentor junior engineering staff, including providing technical reviews and support.
• Deliver technical development of proposals and external presentations to clients, public, and regulatory agencies.
