Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Senior Task Leader for highway design projects within the New England region. Based in Boston, East Hartford, or Manchester, you will lead technical work, mentor staff, and deliver compliant designs for complex transportation challenges.

You will oversee design development, criteria, alignments, and cost estimates, collaborating with Project Leaders and Managers to meet client needs while ensuring regulatory compliance and quality. Travel up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional engineering (PE) license.
• 10 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the technical advancement of highway design projects, communicate the vision for final deliverables, and ensure technical accuracy throughout the project lifecycle.
• Provide day-to-day direct oversight of transportation planning and design projects, ensuring milestones and quality standards are met.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance, training, and support for professional growth within the discipline and firm.
• Collaborate with Project Technical Leaders and Project Managers to deliver high-complexity projects tailored to client requirements.
• Review draft designs for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations; sign and seal designs as required.
