Job summary

The State of South Carolina is seeking a skilled equipment operator for highway and bridge construction and repair projects. The role involves operating multiple heavy machines, coordinating safety practices, and assisting in traffic control to ensure safe and efficient work zones.

Responsibilities include operating boom and snooper trucks, hauling with tandem dump trucks and lowboy trailers, and performing routine safety inspections. A Class A CDL is required within six months of placement.

Qualifications

• Experience operating heavy construction equipment on highway/bridge projects.
• Ability to perform safety inspections on assigned vehicles and equipment.
• Capable of coordinating traffic control devices per work zone manuals.
• Experience with signaling crane operators and coordinating lift operations.

Responsibilities

• Operate boom truck and snooper truck in highway/bridge work.
• Operate tandem dump trucks with trailers and lowboy for hauling materials and equipment.
• Operate excavator, grader, backhoe, pile driver, loader, skid steer, and rollers as needed for construction tasks.
• Inspect vehicles/equipment for safety and coach crew on safety practices.
