South Carolina Department of Transportation seeks an Equipment Operator to support highway and bridge construction and repair projects. You will operate a range of heavy equipment, perform rigging of bridge components, and assist with manual tasks and safety practices on active work sites.

The role requires a CDL Class A within six months, 2+ years of related experience, and physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs. Working outdoors and in varying weather is expected.

Qualifikationen

• Two years of related work experience or equivalent.
• Must hold a valid motor vehicle operator’s license; CDL Class A required within six months.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks; capable of working outdoors.

Aufgaben

• Operate heavy equipment including boom truck, snooper truck, tandem dumps, lowboy tractor, excavator, grader, backhoe, pile driver, loader, skid steer and rollers on highway/bridge projects.
• Safely rig lifted materials and bridge components.
• Perform manual construction tasks with small tools and assist crew with safety practices.
• Instruct crew on safety practices, flagging, equipment safety, and site hazards.
• Coordinate placement of traffic control devices per SCDOT manual and assist in inclement weather operations.
• Conduct safety inspections of vehicles and equipment.
