Job summary

Blue Origin LLC in Cupertino, CA is seeking a senior engineer to develop and optimize PHY, modem, and DSP algorithms for the TeraWave high-throughput satellite system. You will work across MATLAB, C/C++, and Python to model, simulate, and validate end-to-end performance, collaborating with ASIC, RF, firmware, and system teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in communications systems, modem design, signal processing, or DSP development.
• Strong understanding of digital communications and signal processing fundamentals.
• Hands-on experience with MATLAB, Python, C/C++, or similar tools.
• Experience with OFDM-based systems including synchronization and channel estimation.
• Experience with end-to-end modem/PHY simulations and RF impairment considerations.
• Ability to collaborate across modem, RF, ASIC, firmware, and system teams.
• U.S. citizen/national or permanent resident for employment eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize PHY, modem, and DSP algorithms for high-throughput satellite systems.
• Create algorithms for synchronization, CFO/SFO estimation, channel estimation, and equalization.
• Model with MATLAB, C/C++, Python to evaluate modem performance and end-to-end links.
• Analyze channels and impairments including noise, interference, and RF nonlinearity.
• Evaluate modem architecture tradeoffs for performance, complexity, and latency.
• Collaborate with ASIC, RF, firmware, and system teams to implement the design.
• Support pre-silicon verification, prototyping, system integration, and post-silicon validation.
• Assess end-to-end system performance and identify modem/link improvements.
