Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking engineers to develop and analyze wireless communication algorithms for the TeraWave custom silicon platform. You will work across modem PHY/MAC, DSP, RF, ASIC and software teams to implement algorithms and system models from simulation to pre-silicon verification.

You will contribute to high-performance, power-efficient space-based wireless systems, supporting verification from algorithm development to post-silicon validation, with onsite work in multiple U.S.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer or Communications Engineering or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in wireless communication systems, modem development, DSP, or related engineering.
  • Strong understanding of digital communications and signal-processing fundamentals.
  • Experience with OFDM, QPSK/QAM, synchronization, channel estimation, equalization, FEC, and link adaptation.
  • Experience developing system or signal-processing models using MATLAB, Python, C/C++, SystemC, or similar tools.
  • Understanding of wireless channel effects and RF impairments.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and model wireless communication algorithms and signal-processing functions for custom silicon (PHY/MAC, DSP, beamforming, packet-processing).
  • Create end-to-end system and link-level models to evaluate performance and architecture tradeoffs.
  • Develop and analyze channel/RF impairment models (noise, interference, Doppler, offsets, phase noise, nonlinearities).
  • Design algorithms for synchronization, channel estimation, equalization, modulation/demodulation, coding, link adaptation.
  • Analyze algorithm performance, latency, memory, bandwidth, power and fixed-point requirements.
  • Translate requirements for FPGA/ASIC implementation.
  • Collaborate with ASIC, RFIC, firmware, and system teams to define interfaces.
  • Develop reference models in MATLAB, Python, C/C++, SystemC for algorithm development and verification.
  • Support FPGA prototyping, pre-silicon verification, silicon bring-up and post-silicon validation.
  • Review results, identify gaps and coordinate cross-team fixes.
  • Document algorithms, models, interfaces and verification results.
