Job summary

Blue Origin seeks a Principal PCB Hardware Engineer to design and validate high-speed PCBs for the TeraWave network, including SerDes interfaces, DDR-like memory considerations, and PDN during bring-up. You will lead SI/PI analysis, 3D EM simulations, and collaboration with firmware for space-grade hardware.

Base Pay Range for WA applicants is $156,802.00 - $219,522.45, reflecting senior responsibility for space hardware development and vendor coordination in a high-assurance environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in high-speed PCB design and hardware development.
  • Deep expertise in signal integrity analysis and physical layer correlation measurements.
  • Hands-on experience with advanced PCB manufacturing technologies.
  • Proven experience designing high speed memory interfaces and SerDes at data rates of 10 Gbps and above.
  • Experience with PCB design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for testability (DFT).
  • Excellent technical documentation and communication skills.
  • Background in production hardware including vendor management and yield optimization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead hardware bring-up and validation of the TeraWave switch PCB, including power sequencing and eye diagram characterization.
  • Design and review PCB layer stack-ups with fabricators to meet SI, PI, and reliability requirements.
  • Develop 3D EM models and SI simulations, validate with measurements (VNA, TDR).
  • Collaborate with firmware/software teams on BSP integration and hardware-software interface debugging.
  • Coordinate with PCB fabricators, assembly, and suppliers for high-reliability space hardware.
