Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Senior Manufacturing PCBA Design & SMT Fab DFX Engineer in California to own end-to-end design integration of TeraWave PCBA modules. You will bridge high-speed PCB layout, SMT fabrication, and volume production readiness for orbital-scale hardware.

The role requires hands-on experience with multi-layer PCBs, high-speed interfaces, and DFX across the production lifecycle. Relocation assistance and travel up to 50% are available for qualified candidates.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer, Manufacturing Engineering.
10+ years in PCBA design, SMT manufacturing, or hardware design in volume prod.
Experience with multi-layer PCBs and high-speed interfaces; proficiency in Altium/Cadence.
Hands-on SMT fabrication processes including stencil design and reflow.
Experience with high-speed Ethernet switch hardware, NPUs, SerDes, optical/Cu PHY.
DFX implementation in bringing PCBAs to production.
Excellent technical documentation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Lead multi-layer PCBA design for switch line cards.
Own SMT fabrication process development - panelization, stencil design, reflow, placement optimization.
Manage CCA BOM procurement and assembly oversight.
Drive first-article inspection, process validation, and ramp.
Apply DFM/DFT/DFR/DFX across lifecycle.
Coordinate with supply chain for standardization and obsolescence mitigation.
