Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Senior Manufacturing PCBA Design & SMT Fab DFX Engineer to own end-to-end manufacturing integration of TeraWave PCBA modules, bridging high-speed PCB layout with SMT fabrication and volume production readiness. The role demands hands-on experience in fast-paced, high-volume environments and readiness for orbital-scale hardware challenges.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years of PCBA design and SMT manufacturing in volume production.
  • Experience designing multi-layer PCBs with high-speed interfaces; proficiency in Altium, Cadence, or equivalent.
  • Hands-on SMT fabrication: stencil design, reflow, AOI/X-ray, line bring-up.
  • Experience with high-speed Ethernet switch hardware, NPUs, SerDes, and optical/copper PHYs.
  • DFX principles application across PCBAs from design to production.
  • Excellent technical documentation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead multi-layer PCBA design for switch line cards: stackup, impedance, thermal management, manufacturability‑driven layout.
  • Own SMT fabrication process development: panelization, stencil design, reflow profiles, component placement optimization.
  • Manage CCA BOM procurement, vendor coordination, SMT line qualification, and assembly oversight.
  • Drive first‑article inspection, process validation, and manufacturing readiness reviews for production ramp.
