Job summary

Sound Transit seeks a senior project leader to plan and design high-capacity transit corridors, coordinating with local governments, communities, and engineers to reach consensus on alignments, stations, and environmental mitigations.

The role oversees budgets and schedules, partners with departments, and manages consultant contracts for engineering and environmental work while guiding policy decisions for large-scale transit projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, Transportation, Business Administration, Public Administration, or closely related field.
• Six years of public transit related experience in project management of urban design, community planning, public involvements, engineering, architecture; OR equivalent combo.
• Valid driver’s license; travel across Puget Sound required.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, coordinate, and review work of staff on corridor projects.
• Establish and maintain relationships with local/state/federal officials and community groups.
• Develop partnerships to support station area planning and transit-oriented development.
• Lead design budgeting, scope, and engineering cost estimation.
• Procure and manage consultants for PE, environmental reviews, and outreach.
• Support Board briefings and communications with stakeholders.
