Job summary

Colonna’s Shipyard’s Steel America unit in Norfolk, VA is seeking a Superintendent III to lead and manage new heavy steel fabrication projects for commercial and government vessels. This role requires deep regulatory knowledge, fabrication expertise, and strong project management to deliver on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

This onsite role may require extended hours and limited travel as needed to support operations.

Qualifications

• Must have at least 4 years of experience in shipyard operations, focusing on commercial/government heavy steel fabrication.
• Proven track record managing complex projects within budget and schedule constraints.
• Strong technical knowledge of heavy steel fabrication, regulations and safety standards.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills for diverse stakeholders.
• Experience using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage new heavy steel fabrication projects for commercial and government clients from planning through execution.
• Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and resource allocations to meet objectives.
• Coordinate with internal teams, subcontractors, and vendors to meet client requirements and standards.
• Approve time charges and material expenditures within spending limits; modify POs as needed.
• Oversee repairs scheduling and vessel site activity to minimize downtime.
