Job summary

Colonna’s Shipyard in Norfolk, VA seeks a seasoned Ship Repair Superintendent I with extensive experience in commercial and government ship repair. This onsite role oversees project execution, coordination with partners, and compliance with regulatory standards to minimize downtime and ensure quality.

The position requires 8+ years in shipyard operations, strong leadership, and proficiency in MS Office tools.

Qualifications

• Must have at least 8 years of experience in shipyard operations, with focus on commercial and government ship repair projects.
• Proven track record managing complex ship repair projects within budget and schedule.
• Strong knowledge of ship repair processes, regulations, and safety standards.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder collaboration skills.
• Strong written and oral communication; able to act as a spokesperson.
• Experience with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
• Experience in dry docks and vessel inspections.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage ship repair projects for commercial and government clients from planning through execution to completion.
• Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and resource allocations to meet objectives.
• Manage multiple complex projects simultaneously and coordinate with internal teams, subcontractors, and vendors.
• Approve time charges and material expenditures within the spending limit; write/modify subcontract POs as needed.
• Represent the company in discussions with customers regarding schedule and support change orders when warranted.
