Job summary

Colonna's Shipyard in Norfolk, VA seeks a Shipfitting General Foreman - Steel America to lead trades teams in ship repair and fabrication, ensuring schedule, cost, quality, and safety targets are met.

The role requires NAVSEA and NAVSEA-related standards proficiency, hands-on welding oversight, and strong communication with supervisors, engineers, and customers. Travel and extended hours are possible.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or Registered Apprentice credential is required or 6 years trades experience with HS diploma.
• Must demonstrate multi-pass SMAW/FCAW welding capabilities.
• Solid knowledge of AWS D1.1 and NAVSEA/NMIL standards for submarine fabrication work.

Responsibilities

• Oversee trades workforce and supervision to meet project schedule, budget, quality, and safety goals.
• Assign trades personnel to Foremen based on project needs and supervise skilled trades workers.
• Develop training and coaching plans to enhance productivity and performance.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Planning, QA, and Program Management to resolve production issues and maintain schedules.
• Ensure compliance with drawings, procedures, and inspection documentation.
