Job summary

Colonna’s Shipyard Inc. in Norfolk, VA is seeking a Shipfitting General Foreman for Steel America to oversee qualified trades, manage manpower, and ensure safety, schedule, and quality on ship repair and fabrication projects.

Direct submarine construction experience (Columbia/Virginia classes) and NAVSEA knowledge are strongly preferred. The role requires effective communication, training, and coordination with engineering, planning, QA, and management to meet production goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or Registered Apprentice with at least 2 years supervisory experience.
• Experience performing multi-pass welds: SMAW and FCAW.
• Knowledge of AWS D1.1 and NAVSEA requirements.
• Ability to read specs and drawings and communicate clearly.
• Regular, reliable attendance.

Responsibilities

• Staff and assign trades personnel to foremen by project needs.
• Ensure adequate manning, space, tooling, and equipment to meet schedules.
• Monitor efficiency and implement process improvements.
• Oversee training and coaching; manage personnel actions.
• Ensure compliance with drawings, procedures, and quality plans.
