Job summary

Primoris Services Corporation is seeking an Operator Dominion to safely operate heavy equipment on construction and utility projects in Sterling, VA. Responsibilities include excavating, trenching, loading materials, and interpreting blueprints while maintaining a clean, safe work area.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED, 3–5 years of relevant experience, CDL may be required, and the ability to pass drug and background checks. Strong safety focus and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience operating heavy equipment in a construction or utility environment.
• Proven ability to safely and proficiently operate multiple types of heavy equipment.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; CDL may be required for certain roles.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, and construction plans.
• Strong understanding of safety procedures and regulations related to heavy equipment operation.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Physical ability to lift heavy objects, stand for extended periods, and work in various weather conditions.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of heavy equipment including, but not limited to, excavators, backhoes, dozers, trenchers, loaders, and compactors in a safe and efficient manner.
• Conduct pre-operation safety checks and routine maintenance on assigned equipment to ensure proper functioning and identify potential issues.
• Read and interpret blueprints, grade stakes, and other project documents to ensure accurate and precise execution of tasks.
• Dig trenches, excavate foundations, and grade terrain according to specifications and safety guidelines.
• Load and unload materials, such as pipe, dirt, and gravel, using appropriate equipment.
• Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, as well as local, state, and federal regulations.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, and other personnel on site.
• Assist with manual labor tasks as needed to support project completion.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Troubleshoot minor equipment malfunctions and report major issues to maintenance personnel.
