Job summary

Primoris Services Corporation is seeking an Operator Dominion to safely and efficiently operate a range of heavy equipment on construction and utility projects in the Sterling, VA area. You will perform tasks including excavation, trenching, backfilling, and material handling to support project objectives.

Responsibilities include pre-operation safety checks, reading blueprints, adhering to safety regulations, and coordinating with on-site teams.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 3–5 years of heavy equipment experience.
• Valid driver's license; CDL may be required for certain roles.
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and construction plans.
• Strong understanding of safety procedures and regulations for heavy equipment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Physical ability to lift heavy objects and work in varying weather.
• Pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment (excavators, backhoes, dozers, trenchers, loaders, compactors) safely and efficiently.
• Conduct pre-operation safety checks and routine maintenance on equipment.
• Read and interpret blueprints and project documents for accurate execution.
• Dig trenches, excavate foundations, and grade terrain per specifications.
• Load/unload materials (pipe, dirt, gravel) using appropriate equipment.
• Follow all safety policies and regulatory requirements.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers on site.
• Assist with manual labor tasks as needed to support project completion.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area.
• Troubleshoot minor malfunctions and report major issues.
