Job summary

Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) in Colorado is seeking a Journey-level Heavy Equipment Mechanic III to inspect, diagnose, repair and service light and heavy trucks and snow/road repair equipment in Region 4. You will work to keep the fleet safe and compliant while following DOT/CDOT policies.

The job requires a CDL, four years of automotive and heavy equipment repair experience, and the ability to operate tools, SAP work orders, and perform field and shop repairs.

Qualifications

• Four years of progressively responsible experience in automotive and heavy equipment repair with at least one year on heavy diesel equipment.
• Combination of education, apprenticeship, or relevant experience equal to four years.
• Current CDL with no restrictions on air brakes.

Responsibilities

• Diagnoses equipment components for defects and malfunctions using a range of test equipment.
• Inspects equipment for defects, tests operation, and performs repairs.
• Fabricates and installs parts, designs custom tools, and maintains records in SAP.
• Maintains safety procedures and participates in trainings and meetings.
