Job summary

Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) in Durango is hiring a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to perform field maintenance and shop repairs on CDOT equipment. You will diagnose, repair, and overhaul a variety of heavy machines, and you may work in the field or in the shop while following safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Experience maintaining and repairing heavy equipment and vehicles.
• Ability to perform safety inspections and preventative maintenance.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and hydraulic systems.
• Fabricate parts or tools as needed for repairs.
• Procure parts and maintain records of repairs.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventative maintenance and annual safety inspections.
• Diagnoses and repairs vehicle and equipment malfunctions on all major systems.
• Overhauls and rebuilds components and equipment.
• Uses test equipment to diagnose defects or malfunctions.
• Orders and procures parts and supplies.
• Maintains a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
• Other duties as assigned.
