Job summary

State of Colorado’s Department of Transportation seeks an Equipment Mechanic in Aurora to track, inspect, and prepare vehicles and heavy equipment (¾ ton and larger) for service. You will verify vendor paperwork, perform safety inspections, and manage equipment data in SAP.

The role requires hands-on maintenance, safety compliance, and occasional equipment testing and driving. The ideal candidate has two years of relevant mechanical experience, a valid CDL Class B may be preferred, and a strong

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of relevant experience including repairing, general maintenance of engines, accessories, systems, auto bodies, and/or other mechanical units.
• Education/apprenticeship in automotive and diesel equipment mechanics may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Receive and certify paperwork from vendors and perform initial inspections for bid compliance.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance such as oil changes and servicing transmissions.
• Inspect equipment for DOT/CDOT standards and safety.
• Document delivery and placement of equipment, and enter data into SAP.
• Install warning lights, radios, AVL hardware, and safety equipment.
• Prepare vehicles for service with decals; decommission and remove aftermarket equipment.
• Maintain clean, safe shop; proper storage and disposal of chemicals.
