Job summary

Farnsworth Group seeks a Mechanical Engineering Manager - Healthcare to lead planning, design, and delivery of mechanical systems for hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, and clinics. You’ll guide a team, manage scope and budget, and interface with clients across the Midwest.

The role emphasizes technical leadership, project management, and people leadership, with travel to client sites and Farnsworth Group offices. Hybrid work options are available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• PE license required.
• 12–15+ years progressive experience in building mechanical design, healthcare focus.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the mechanical engineering team on healthcare projects from pursuit through construction closeout.
• Serve as mechanical discipline lead on multi‑disciplinary project teams and coordinate with other disciplines.
• Oversee design of HVAC, central plant, and related systems for healthcare facilities.
• Ensure designs comply with IMC, IPC, IBC, NFPA, ASHRAE standards and FGI Guidelines.
• Provide technical review and quality control of calculations, drawings, and reports.
