Job summary

Parkland Health in Dallas seeks a skilled Health Information Management specialist to support the HIM Team in ensuring accurate medical records across EMR and paper systems. This role involves coordinating work, reviewing records, and maintaining data integrity.

You will work with healthcare staff, handle multi-line phones, and complete required training within 90 days. A strong background in HIM operations and familiarity with patient index software are preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School diploma or GED.
• Six years of office experience with software applications; two years in health care.
• Prefer six years of HIM experience.

Responsibilities

• Assists with coordination of the Health Information Management Team to ensure efficient operations.
• Uses electronic medical record and master patient index systems to create, update, verify and review patient records.
• Reviews documentation and data in electronic and paper records to process medical record requests.
• Analyzes and audits medical records for completeness and accuracy per procedures.
• Coordinates and prioritizes workflows, assignments, and deliverables of the HIM Team.
• Prepares routine statistical reports as directed by the manager.
• Facilitates quality improvement processes within HIM workflows and recommends improvements.
• Manages record workflows including retrieval, filing, scanning, indexing and audits.
