Job summary

Parkland Health in Dallas, TX seeks an experienced Health Information Management professional to coordinate HIM operations and ensure accurate medical record handling. You will use EMR systems, master patient index, and document imaging tools to create, track, and verify records, while training staff and maintaining data integrity.

The role requires strong organization, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or in a team; prior HIM experience and knowledge of healthcare

Qualifications

• Must have High School diploma or GED.
• Six years of office experience with software applications; two years healthcare-related.
• Prefer six years of HIM experience.
• RHIT registration or current licensure in health care field preferred.
• Must pass Customer Service, Medical Terminal Digit Filing, Data Entry (3000 keystrokes), General Computer, and Medical Terminology tests with required scores.

Responsibilities

• Assist with coordination of HIM Team operations and training.
• Use master patient index and EMR applications to create and verify records.
• Review documentation in EMR and paper records to process requests for medical records.
• Audit medical records for completeness and accuracy; document quality issues.
• Prioritize workflows and deliverables for the HIM Team.
• Prepare routine statistical reports as directed by the manager.
• Support quality improvement within HIM workflows and process improvements.
• Manage record workflows including retrieval, filing, scanning, indexing, and quality review.
