Job summary

SEARHC in Southeast Alaska is seeking a Health Benefits Specialist I to provide frontline health benefits enrollment to patients and to serve as a resource for initiating health care coverage. You will determine whether patients have third-party payers, assist with enrollment in Medicaid, Medicare, VA, and other options, and enter data into MapsIQ and other systems to track cases.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent – required.
• Bachelor's degree or 3+ years benefits enrollment experience or equivalent.
• CAC Certification with CMS or obtain within 45 days of hire.
• Medicare Counselor Certification or obtain within 6 months.
• Completion of Department of Veterans Affairs-Tribal Veteran Representative training or obtain within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide frontline health benefits enrollment to patients.
• Determine whether patients have a third-party payer and assist with enrollment in Medicaid, Medicare, VA and other options.
• Enter data into MapsIQ and other systems; monitor statuses from initiation to resolution.
• Coordinate with local and tribal organizations to raise awareness of coverage options.
• Maintain confidentiality and deliver superior customer service to patients and staff.
