Job summary

SEARHC is seeking a Health Benefits Specialist I to provide frontline enrollment assistance to patients and determine payer options. The role supports community health access by guiding eligible individuals through Medicaid, Medicare, VA, and Marketplace programs.

Responsibilities include data entry, materials distribution, and collaboration with Tribal Nations and local partners to expand coverage options. A strong customer service focus and accuracy are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor’s degree or 3+ years benefits enrollment experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Certified Application Counselor (CAC) with CMS or obtain within 45 days of hire.
• Medicare Counselor Certification or obtain within 6 months.
• Completion of Department of Veterans Affairs-Tribal Veteran Representative training or obtain within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide frontline health benefits enrollment to patients and assist with third-party payer determinations.
• Educate patients on Medicaid, Medicare, VA, Marketplace options, and Sliding Discount programs.
• Enter data into health benefit tracking software and maintain accurate records.
• Distribute materials and coordinate with tribal nations to raise coverage awareness.
• Assist with training and support for entry-level Health Benefits staff.
