Job description

As a Senior Electrical Hardware Systems Engineer, you will be the primary technical point of contact for low voltage controllers within the vehicle. You will be responsible for the complete end-to-end integration of in-house electronic control units within the electrical architecture and participate in system-level design activities for all interfacing subsystems. You will collaborate closely with the hardware development team, providing specifications and requirements for controller design. You will facilitate all related workstreams and ensure seamless integration of your module into the vehicle. You will conceptualize, design, engineer, develop, and support the launch of next-generation vehicle platform architectures for electric vehicles.

Qualifications

You'll have...

  1. B.S in Electrical, Computer, or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
  2. 6+ years of experience working on complex electrical systems or electronics designs
  3. Strong understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals and ability to apply them to automotive concepts
  4. Proven debugging and diagnostic skills in electrical, mechanical, and software domains
  5. Highly skilled in low voltage systems development, electric vehicle system architecture, functional safety, and component level integration planning
  6. Experience with requirements capture in requirements management software platforms (JAMA, etc.)
  7. Experience with microprocessor-based system design and development
  8. Familiarity with communication interfaces such as SPI, I2C, UART, and Ethernet
  9. Excellent teamwork, problem-solving, communication, and project management skills
  10. Strong written and verbal communication skills
  11. An eagerness to work cross-functionally in a dynamic environment with a high-performing team
  12. A systems approach to design and development with a desire for continuous improvement

Even better, you may have...

  1. Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering or related fields
  2. Hands-on experience with electrical test equipment (oscilloscopes, DMMs, signal generators, power supplies, etc.)
  3. Experience with hardware development from concept through production launch in automotive or similar
  4. Experience with FMEA and HARA
  5. Experience with electrical/electromechanical devices involving networked microcontrollers and embedded software

Responsibilities
  • Drive creation and development of electrical architecture content and maintain logical hardware block diagrams.
  • Serve as primary technical point of contact for your control module, creating release artifacts and facilitating communication between teams.
  • Perform trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
  • Partner with the vehicle architecture team to establish electrical system and network communication requirements.
  • Utilize MBSE methodologies to define and track electrical interfaces within the architecture.
  • Decompose system functionality into modular components and collaborate with EDS teams on connection interfaces and I/O allocation.
  • Execute technical planning, system integration, and verification activities to support prototype bring-up and ensure hardware functionality.
  • Identify test data needs and assist with testing to recreate events, identify issues, and determine corrective actions.
