Job Description

In this position, you will be a key leader in the electrical system design and integration of components within the body controls subsystem. You will lead end-to-end system integration, collaborating with cross-functional teams to support product design, vehicle behavior definition, prototype bring-up, and debugging. Your responsibilities include ensuring seamless operation and performance of these systems from concept through production, involving supplier interaction, design optimization, hardware/software integration, and issue resolution.

Responsibilities
  1. Develop hardware specifications for body controllers, motors, sensors, and switches, working with device owners and supply chain.
  2. Drive electrical architecture decisions for body subsystems, performing trade studies for cost and performance optimization.
  3. Collaborate on system boundary and block diagrams for robust body controls subsystems.
  4. Define, develop, and integrate features and functions, translating user stories and safety goals into system requirements.
  5. Create and mature functional specifications aligned with vehicle homologation and regulations.
  6. Work with software teams to ensure robust performance across operating conditions.
  7. Manage device transmittals, ensuring schematic and interface designs meet requirements.
  8. Lead prototype system integration, including bring-up, debugging, and testing of prototypes and vehicles.
Qualifications
  • B.S. in Electrical, Computer, or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
  • 6+ years experience in complex electrical systems or electronics design
  • Strong understanding of electrical fundamentals and automotive application
  • Proven debugging skills across electrical, mechanical, and software domains
  • Expertise in low voltage systems, vehicle architecture, functional safety, and component integration
  • Experience with requirements management software (e.g., JAMA)
  • Experience with network interface description files
  • Excellent teamwork, problem-solving, communication, and project management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work cross-functionally in a dynamic, high-performing team
  • Design approach focused on continuous improvement

Preferred qualifications include a Master’s degree, hands-on electrical testing experience, experience with feature development from concept to launch, FMEA/HARA experience, and familiarity with networked microcontrollers and embedded software. Experience with network interface files is a plus.
