Job Description

This role will report into the Systems Engineering Manager. The Systems Engineering (SE) team works closely with our Project Management Office (PMO) within our professional services organization to deliver business value to our end users, channel partners, and for OTTO Motors. SEs design and integrate fleets of OTTO autonomous mobile robots (AMR) and software at our customer facilities. This is a remote-based role; however, due to the location of our key customer in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the position will require frequent on-site visits as needed. Therefore, candidates must either currently reside in Indiana or be willing to relocate to Indiana to effectively support customer engagements.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Commissioning & integration of AMR systems at client facilities throughout the world; this includes traveling to customer or integration partner facility for on-site deployment and integration with facility side automation equipment
  • support detailed solutions design of AMR systems using OTTO Motors products to meet the customer requirements; this includes workflow design, attachment design, map design and development/modification middle layer software logic using Ignition OPC/UA, FT Optix and/or PLC logic design and modification
  • Author & execute acceptance test plans for validation of system functionality and performance;
  • Deliver training to integration partners as well as end users
  • Troubleshoot software & hardware technical issues using internal tools available; solving new and challenging technical problems related to the above
  • Work on-site at customer locations on an as needed basis depending on project needs where employees are local/within 1 hour driving distance of the customer location.;
The Essentials - You Will Have:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Relevant Field
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
  • Ability to travel for business within North America, Europe and Asia; 45 - 55 % travel commitment over the year (travel mostly contained to Canada and USA). Trips to site would typically be 2 weeks on - 2 weeks off during the project integration phase.
  • A valid full drivers licence.
The Preferred - You Might Also Have:
  • 5+ years of experience commissioning & integrating industrial automated equipment or software that interfaces to the equipment
  • college/university diploma or degree in an engineering, design, or industrial controls type of field
  • planning and organization (how to approach and solve a problem, work breakdown to achieve the end goal, etc.)
  • past experience with AMR/AGV systems integration
  • authoring and modifying software code (python, C++, or other)
  • experience with inductive Automation Ignition OPC/UA software

This position is part of a job family. Experience will be the determining factor for position level and compensation.

For this role, the total target compensation is from $84,080.00 - $126,120.00 USD Annual. Actual pay will be based on factors such as skills, knowledge, education, and experience.
