Job summary

WHOOP, based in Boston, MA, is seeking a Staff Systems Engineer to drive system architecture and technical strategy across wearable hardware programs. You will partner with Electrical, Mechanical, Firmware, Signal Processing, Product, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to deliver exceptional member experiences through deep systems thinking and technical leadership.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in electrical systems engineering or hardware design.
• Experience defining system architecture for complex, highly integrated electronic products from concept through production.
• Deep understanding of hardware system integration and V&V across electrical, firmware, and mechanical domains.
• Proven ability to lead technical direction across cross-functional teams without direct authority.
• Experience developing system requirements, interface definitions, verification strategies, and validation plans for complex hardware.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive system architecture across multiple hardware programs, aligning product goals with technical feasibility and long-term platform strategy.
• Lead cross-functional decision-making across Electrical, Mechanical, Firmware, Signal Processing, Manufacturing, and Product teams to resolve system-level challenges.
• Own development and evolution of system requirements, interface definitions, and architecture documentation with traceability across the lifecycle.
• Develop system verification and validation strategies to confirm performance, reliability, and compliance with requirements.
• Lead architecture and design reviews, providing guidance to improve performance, scalability, manufacturability, and reliability.
• Identify technical risks early, develop mitigation strategies, and influence roadmaps with data-driven recommendations.
• Serve as a technical mentor across the hardware organization, elevating engineering practices and coaching engineers.
• Partner with external suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure successful execution from concept to production.
• Travel up to 15% domestically and internationally to collaborate with partners and suppliers.
