Job summary

WHOOP, based in Boston, MA, seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to own the design, validation, and development of next-generation biometric wearables. You will lead mechanical design for micro-electronics, mentor juniors, and collaborate cross-functionally with Electrical, Embedded, Manufacturing, Product, and PM teams.

The role emphasizes supplier and contract manufacturer collaboration, high-quality documentation, and rigorous risk management.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience designing mechanical parts for medium to high-volume consumer electronics.
• 4+ years SolidWorks CAD experience with advanced assemblies and DFx feedback.
• 2+ years working with Tier 1 and 2 contract manufacturers in Asia and North America.
• Experience with high-volume automated manufacturing processes and manual assembly.
• Experience with injection molded plastics, die casting, metal injection molding, packaging, and material selection.
• Strong organization and communication skills in a fast-paced team environment.

Responsibilities

• Own subsystem and component design from concept to manufacturing release.
• Lead mechanical design around micro-electronics with manufacturing constraints and precise industrial design specifications.
• Create SolidWorks CAD models to enable prototyping, simulation, and mass production qualification.
• Generate 3D files, 2D drawings, BOMs, and ECOs following the product development cycle.
• Communicate engineering changes to vendors and contract manufacturers as the product progresses.
• Design testing protocols and validation plans; manage testing processes.
• Perform thorough root cause analyses to resolve issues.
• Mentorship and adoption of engineering best practices.
• Willingness to travel internationally up to 20%.
