Job summary

Axon seeks a Principal Hardware Systems Architect to own system architecture and cross‑disciplinary decisions for mission‑critical hardware. You will partner with EE, RF, SW, and ME leads to define requirements and push designs from concept through mass production, balancing performance, cost and manufacturability.

You will drive verification, validation, and risk mitigation while coordinating with ODM/JDM partners and manufacturing teams to ensure production readiness and regulatory

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of hardware engineering experience across at least two of electrical, RF, or mechanical engineering with depth in the third.
  • Proven ownership of system architecture and cross-disciplinary technical decisions for complex hardware.
  • Track record of taking compact, connected, battery-powered hardware from concept through mass production (EVT/DVT/PVT, certification, ramp).
  • Deep experience across RF/antenna integration, power architecture, thermal management, EMI/EMC, shielding, enclosure design, and mechanical tolerances.
  • Experience developing system requirements and validation plans, with familiarity across U.S. and international hardware certification.
  • Experience working with ODM/JDM or contract manufacturing partners through development and production.

Responsibilities

  • Develop system architectures considering industrial design, electrical, RF, mechanical, software, and product management.
  • Build system diagrams and interaction models to guide implementation.
  • Analyze and balance power, thermal, and computational budgets while managing cost and size.
  • Lead concept studies and present outcomes and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Write and validate system requirements with clear targets for engineering and test teams.
  • Review product requirements for next-generation devices and ensure traceability from PRD through V&V.
  • Lead cross-discipline design reviews and drive cross-functional system reviews to gain stakeholder buy-in.
  • Own the system-level verification and validation strategy, manage risks, and provide actionable decisions.
