Packetlabs is a cybersecurity consulting firm seeking a Penetration Tester - Hardware to lead security assessments of embedded devices, including IoT and board-level designs. The role emphasizes hands‑on testing, hardware‑level exploitation, and delivering actionable remediation for real security gaps.

You will work with clients to understand devices, perform firmware analysis, and contribute to lab tooling and methodology while staying current with hardware attack techniques.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher in Information Security, Computer Science, or Computer/Electrical Engineering (or equivalent hands‑on experience).
• Strong electronics fundamentals with ability to read schematics/datasheets.
• Hands‑on soldering and basic chip removal on boards.
• Experience accessing debug interfaces (JTAG, SWD, UART) and extracting firmware.
• Experience with firmware extraction and analysis on embedded devices.

Responsabilités

• Lead hardware penetration testing on embedded/IoT devices, defining scope and engagement rules.
• Identify and exploit on‑board debug interfaces to gain code execution or memory access.
• Extract firmware via debug ports and readout interfaces (SPI/I2C/NAND) for vulnerability analysis.
• Interrogate embedded buses (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, USB) with logic analyzers and decoders.
• Perform side‑channel analysis or fault injection where applicable to bypass protections.
• Reverse engineer firmware/binaries with tools (Ghidra/IDA/Binwalk) to find flaws.
• Write high‑quality reports and present findings to clients, with remediation guidance.
• Develop lab tooling, test rigs, and internal methodology; contribute to research.
